About

Hello, my name is Gene.  Being retired has allowed me the luxury of starting new hobbies on a whim.  I’ve always been interested in computers, I surf a lot on the Internet, and now I’ve decided to start my very first blog!

I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about what this blog should be focused on.  My love for chocolate?  My pug dog, Laptop?  My worldly travels?  My grandchildren?  The stock market?   Being retired?  How to grow the perfect tomato? (although I can’t get that one right so it was easy to toss it out!).

I thought some more and realized my blog should be on a subject that could help others.  A subject that friends, family, and associates contact me about on a regular basis seeking my advice.  Then I realized that subject had to be about being a landlord!

I’ve been a landlord for over 40 years and here are just a few of the things I’ve experienced:

  • Bought, Sold, and Built Residential Income Properties
  • Knocked Door-to-Door to Collect Rent Monthly
  • Joined Apartment Associations to Expand My Knowledge
  • Performed Thorough Tenant Screening Background Checks
  • Invited Tenants Over for Dinner
  • Evicted Tenants Personally and with the Assistance of an Eviction Attorney
  • Sent Tenants to Collection Agencies to Get My Money Back!
  • Painted, Plumbed, Hammered, and Fixed My Buildings
  • plus so much more, but that is what this blog is for!

I look forward to learning how to use WordPress and spreading my knowledge about being a landlord to the World Wide Web.   I’ll do my best to include helpful links to resources I’ve utilized in the past and posting articles I find that are of interest to me and I hope to you too!

This blog is meant to be a resource for landlords as well as a gigantic bookmark for me.  Many of the pages I’ve written myself. Other pages contain information that I’ve located and provided on my site for other landlords to save them time.  If I found the information on another site I’ve provided that site’s information too.

I’ve been a member of the American Apartment Owners Association for about 3 years now.  They are currently providing me with all of my tenant screening services, forms, and more.  You’ll find links to the American Apartment Owners Association in my site as I’ve found them and their staff to be extremely helpful for me .

Please contact me with questions and I will do my best to answer them or lead you in the right direction.
